DGMOVE-VAR are air diffusers for the supply air of ventilation and air conditioning systems in which the horizontal blades are adjusted by a 24V electric actuator. They direct the supply air into the room. This allows temperature-dependent air direction control, especially in the case of notable temperature differences (ΔT) between the supply air and room air temperature. (The supply air temperature in the duct can be max. 50°C, this corresponds with the permissible permanent temperature of the actuator). Furthermore, certain grilles can be closed completely. This results in an optimised air intake, even in systems with a multi-stage air volume flow, with an almost constant supply air velocity. Some of the grilles can be closed for the heating phase. For the rest, the air jet is directed downwards as steeply as possible. Increasing the discharge velocity and the throw distance or penetration depth results in a shorter heating time. (energy saving, low thermal stratification). Ventilation grilles with adjustable blades allow for adapting the air direction control to the local conditions. The result is a mixed flow ventilation in comfort zones and industrial zones, with good overall room ventilation. Due to induction, the airflow velocity of the supply air flow decreases with increasing distance from the ventilation grille. The distance at which the airflow velocity reaches a certain defined value, e.g. 0.35 m/s, is called throw distance. The supply air flow from wall grilles that are arranged close the ceiling achieves a greater throw distance than a comparable free jet (without ceiling influence), due to the ceiling effect. Single grilles, groups of grilles and linear run sections all achieve different throw distances. In cooling mode, it is necessary to consider the jet deflection towards the occupied zone, which increases as the supply air to room air temperature difference increases and the discharge velocity decreases. In heating mode, the supply air jet is deflected towards the ceiling. This has no negative effect on the airflow velocity in the occupied zone, but it may affect the overall ventilation of the room.
The DGMOVE-SELF ventilation grilles are supply air outlets whose horizontal blades are adjusted by a temperature indicator. This results in a self-powered, temperature-dependent air direction control for temperature differences (ΔT) between the supply air and the indoor air. Calculation example Given data
Room length RL = 7.0 m, room height RH = 5.5 m, installation height EH = 4.0 m,
Air volume flow V = 1080 m³/h, or 300 l/s, undisturbed air pattern, blade position 84° diverging
Required
Grille dimensions B × H, room depth RT and RT84, discharge velocity veff, stat. pressure difference ∆ps,
Sound power level LwA, LwNC, LwNR
Solution
From RT84 = 0.56 × RT follows RT = RT84/0.56 = 7/0.56 ~13 m. Using this value in diagram 1, on the previous page, results in: 1 pc DGMOVE-V,
600 × 200 mm, veff = 3.3 m/s. From EPF (Easy Product Finder) follows: ∆ps = 4 Pa, but because of its divergence 84°, it must be corrected. Thus ∆ps84 = 3.3 × 1.50 = 4.95 m/s ⇒ 8 Pa, sound power level LwA = 34 + 3 = 37 dB(A), LwNC = 37 - 4 = 33,
LwNR = 37 - 2 = 35. For more detailed LwA and Δps data, see EPF (Easy Product Finder)
